National Tree Week

National Tree Week is an annual week long fun festival about Trees running from today (2nd March) to 8th March. The launch of National Tree Week will take place in Powerscourt Estate Gardens, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow today - Sunday 2nd March at 2pm.

This looks like a lovely free family event, including a giveaway of over 2,000 trees thanks to Coillte. There will be the opportunity to meet tree specialists, wood turners, bee-keepers and basket weavers and learn about these crafts and pastimes. There are activities for children including a climbing wall, archery lessons and face-painting. All of the above events are free of charge and take place in the Orchard Area of Powerscourt, near the Garden Pavilion and car-park. There will also be a number of tree walks taking place in Powerscourt Gardens which are included in the entry price to the gardens.

There are lots of other events on over the week in Dublin such as school events and public tree walks, music, poetry, stories, lectures, workshops etc - some especially nice ones in the lovely St Enda's Park. I've put the events in the March events post.
